At last, pirate Aster Oberon is setting sail—but danger is on the horizon. Armed with her crew of family and friends, Aster is pursuing the evil queen Morana in order to save the world as she knows it. Her heart is desperately torn between Will and Titus, but she’ll have to put her feelings aside to destroy the Underling army once and for all.
Unfortunately, Aster isn’t the only one hunting. Morana is seeking three mythical treasures: a helm that reveals the entrance to Elysia, a key to unlock the gates, and a sword to vanquish the creature within. If Morana is successful in her search, she could destroy the barrier between the heavens and their realm. Now, Aster must race to find the relics first, if she has any hope of bringing peace to the Known World.
But some things would rather stay hidden. When the discovery of the treasures comes at a devastating price, Aster must push past her deepest fears and step into her true power, or else risk dooming the world to darkness.
Fearsome sea creatures, heartbreaking betrayals, and desperate desire fill this exhilarating new installment of the Nightweaver series and the finale to Aster’s journey.
If there was a mixtape for a dark fantasy world with gothic castles, secret societies, mysterious assassins and starlit rendezvous, it would be this.

This stunning sequel to "Nightweaver" picks up right where the first ends. Aster is still a pirate on land and is reeling from the kiss Titus gave her and her feelings for Will. While the threat from Owen has seemingly been taken care of a larger threat looms. Morana has cursed both Aster and Will and time is running out. Only Morana's blood will save them both. Aster is beset on all sides by changelings, assassins, people who are compelled, and her conflicting feelings for Will and Titus. She is not sure who she can trust and it doesn't feel like she can trust anyone, including those closest to her. Will she be able to save Will and herself or will time run out?
I really enjoyed this sequel. It was fast paced and kept me wanting to turn the page. The chemistry in the love triangle is great and the action scenes are well thought out. The romance is kept clean and this would be a good book for an upper middle school or high school library. There is kissing and holding close, but nothing beyond this.

I have no words… such a STUNNING sequel😭🖤 Will have a full review coming soon!! Thank you thank you thank you Netgalley for the ARC this made my year😭🫶🏻
✨ARC REVIEW✨
Starchaser is one of the BEST SEQUELS I’ve ever read😭 R. M. weaves a tale of romance, betrayal, action, so beautifully wrapped in a perfect gothic bow✨
Every character I was invested in, every word I was on the edge of my seat for & that ending was EXPLOSIVE, R. M. Does not ever disappoint😭
And THE ROMANCE WAS EVERYTHING!! I’m simply DYING for the next book😭
Thank you thank you thank you to Netgalley and Little Brown Publishing for approving my request to read and review an early copy, all my thoughts are my own💖

O. M. G.
This was even better than the first book?! That seemed impossible.
Also I am VERY team Titus, my poor baby 💔
There were so many twists and turns omg. You’d think you had something figured out and then boom, plot twist 🤭. My jaw was definitely on the floor a few times tehehe.
Idk I don’t really have many thoughts for a review which is GOOD because for the books I really, really love, I always don’t have much to say about them

Starchaser by R.M. Gray is the highly anticipated sequel to Nightweaver that had me completely hooked from start to finish. This YA fantasy is bursting with high stakes, action, twists, and secrets.
We reunite with all the characters I adored from Nightweaver, and meet several new characters as well. R.M. Gray does a fantastic job with expanding the world building in Starchaser, as the stakes soar even higher.
The writing was fast paced, addictive, and emotionally rich. And the love triangle? It was absolute perfection! The yearning, the tension, and the banter was everything I wanted and more.
Our FMC Aster really shines in this book. She is bold, determined, and willing to do whatever it takes to protect those she loves.
I can’t stop thinking about that ending! It is the perfect set up for the next book.

this was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, i still can’t believe i was approved for an earc!
‘starchaser’ picks up right after ‘nightweaver’ ends, so it was extremely easy to get into. this book was so fast paced, there was always something happening. it really kept me on the edge of my seat!
i really like aster’s character. she’s so determined, bold, and will do just about anything to protect the people she cares about.
i’m not normally one for the love triangle trope, but it was done extremely well in this book. throughout the whole story, i wasn’t sure who I was rooting for?? titus or william?? now i know 🤭
i’m still thinking about that ending, i didn’t see it coming! makes me so excited for book 3!
thank you netgalley, little brown books for young readers, and r.m. gray for the earc of ‘starchaser’!

This book was SO GOOD. I slammed my kindle down many times. I wanted to throw it!!!
I started with the physical book and that’s hard to read for me, my best reading time is in bed, so I switched about 1/4 of the way in. I got the audio from the library too and it was pretty good! At about 1/2 way this book really took off for me. And at 90% I was googling if there was gonna be a 3rd book because there was no way they were gonna wrap all this up!! Can’t wait for the third and final book!!!
This is a YA pirate (?) book. Not a lot of time on a boat in these first two books lol! But they are SOOOOO good. Lots of twists and secrets.

Omg I didn’t think it was possible to love this book more than Nightweaver, but here I am! This book was masterful. It picks right up where book 1 ended. We are taken through so many twists and turns! I am here for all of them. And the biggest one at the end was *chefs kiss!*
I am so invested in these characters and Aster is one of my fav FMC’s ever!

THIS BOOK. Oh my gosh. I don’t know where to begin. I’m in love.
My favorite aspect of this story is the different types of grief shown. Violent chose revenge while the rest of her family chose to just ignore their grief. There is also the topic of trauma. We see Violet’s reaction to her past traumas and how that effected her relationships with the people around how. That being said I also loved the side characters. Violet’s differing and evolving relationship with all of the people she meets on land and even her family was such an interesting thing to see. I struggled a bit with names but I’m also someone who reads names then promptly forgets that person exists so that’s more on me than on the author.
Another thing I adored was the writing style. It reminded my of Madeline Miller’s writing style in the way that it feels very poetic and mystically. I also felt like each character was their own person and felt unique.
All in all this may be my favorite read of the year. It is perfect for people who don’t like too much romance in their fantasy books but want a splash of romance. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who loves complex world and stories. I was provided an ARC of Nightweaver for an honest review. Thank you R.M Gray for the opportunity to read your amazing book.

Wow, just wow. I have no words. Nightweaver is such a beautiful story!
After spending the last year neck deep in romantacy books, I forgot just how refreshing and fulfilling a regular old fantasy book can be. I’m talking a beautifully complex plot with a nice balance of everything you need— good pacing, lots of action, detailed world building, an interesting but well defined magic system, well developed character relationships, etc! There is so much going on, but in a good way, and not at all overwhelming. So many little plot threads are weaved through the story, some quite easy to predict what lay at the end of the string, but others caught me completely off guard at the end when it was revealed how they all tied together!
Actually, on that point of good pacing: it was a bit fast for me at the start. The first chapter is literally right in the middle of a very consequential action scene, and a would have preferred a slower start, but it very quickly mellows out into something more my speed.
R. M. Gray’s writing style is a joy to experience as well. I found myself pausing quite often to just take in the imagery of what I just read. I’ll say it again, Nightweaver is a beautiful story! I really look forward to what the next instalment has to offer, and I can’t wait to jump back into The Known World🥲♥️

I've always love Pirates of the Caribbean and that's how she pitched this book so I knew when it came out I needed to read it. And oh my I loved this book! I gave it 5 stars for a few different reasons. Firstly, I am usually a very slow reader. There are very few books that I can read fast and with Nightweaver I finished in 2 days. But that's only 1 of the reasons, another is I love Violet. I believe Violet is a bit of a people pleaser, not that there is anything wrong with that but she puts the needs of others before herself which is admirable. I also loved watching her decide who she wanted to be and overcome her struggles with how she thought she had to be in order to please others.
Secondly, Will... all I can say is he is a sarcastic cinnamon roll. So you get the best of both worlds with him and the way he helps Violet find out what is happening and watching them work together and seeing how their relationship moves forward… but I won't say more so as to not spoil it.
Thirdly the side characters. There were so many wonderful side characters The Prince, The Oberon Siblings, Captain Shade & all of the other characters who come along, again I won't say more to avoid spoilers, but they were all amazing!! I also love how even though the story is darker The Author was able to have lighthearted scenes as well and the humor was definitely my kind of humor.
All in all these are the reasons I gave Nightweaver 5 stars. Come October 13th I highly recommend going and grabbing yourself a copy of this book and drift to sea reading about Violet and her journey to find who she is and who she will become.

"You're more powerful than you could have ever hoped to be, Violet Oberon.”
Oh my GOSH.
Okay, wow. This book was so so so so s00000o good It had me at the edge of my seat, had me squealing, had me bouncing on my feet to see what would happen!!!!
The love I have for these characters... they are so precious!!!! I love how Violet had her own mind, and didn't care for when people tried to tell her what to do. Standing for what she believed to be true!
And Will Castor — I love him. There's always amusement swarming in his eyes, but he is also a complete mystery & I need MORE of him. He feels like a beautiful painting that you could be looking at for hours, and still not see the depths of his beauty. (Idk if that makes sense but that's how I feel ahha)
And Captain Shade... interesting
The adventure that I got from this book is so amazing :)

I have just finished Nightweaver and OH MY GODDDD what an absolutely FABULOUS read!! Nightweaver has made it to one of my top reads so far this year - book 2 cannot come soon enough!!!
The storyline, the characters and the world building were all top tier. There was:
🏴☠️ elemental magic
🏴☠️ forbidden love
🏴☠️ plot twist GALORE
🏴☠️ Pirates, Nightweavers, Gores & Underlings (if you don’t know - get to know 👀❤️🔥)
🏴☠️ top notch world building
🏴☠️ YA & slow burn
Genuinely — what a read 😍 would highly recommend for all the girlies that love a good fantasy and am already highly anticipating book 2 that comes out at the end of this year (which cannot come soon enough!!!).

If I could give this ten stars, I would. This was a beautiful debut story that had me in a chokehold.
I finished this a few days ago, but I had to give my mind a chance to process before writing a review. Now I’m ready.
The world building in this book is amazing. There was depth, intrigue, a little mystery, and a deep care that the author put in. The lore of this world is incredibly interesting, and I can’t wait to explore more of it.
The descriptions and imagery were absolutely insane. I felt like I was there. I smelled the scents, felt the spray of the sea, tasted the food, and heard the sounds of terrifying creatures. It drew me in.
The characters were three dimensional. They felt real; I took on their pain, happiness, guilt, rage, despair, resentment, realization, and love like it was my own. The chemistry between all the characters was amazing. Love, friendship, and family were heavy in this story, which I’m happy about. I love that this was just a romance. I loved seeing the relationship between Violet and her family just as much as I liked seeing her with everyone else outside of it.
The story itself was so interesting, and unique…at least to me. I’ve never read a story like this. I can’t wait to see how the rest unfolds. So many secrets were revealed, and it makes me wonder what’s going to happen—which is exactly what I want in a series.

I first found out about this book through Instagram, where someone had shared one of the author’s posts that had a few quotes from the book. It sounded amazing but of course there’s always a worry that the finished book won’t live up to the promotional quotes, especially with a debut… but after reading it, I can honestly say that Nightweaver went above and beyond.
I loved everything about this book. It was like Pirates of the Caribbean meets Crimson Peak meets The Cruel Prince. Our FMC, Violet, was giving me major Jude Duarte vibes — a rare human in a land of beautiful monsters. (And she’s stabby, ladies and gentlemen.)
The characters were all so great and complicated. There’s a slowburn romance with a boy who has more secrets than he lets on, foes that become friends and vice versa, a villain who’s more than he seems, and a mysterious pirate captain with an unknown identity. I was trying to guess Captain Shade’s deal throughout the entire book and there were quite a few options, so I was wrong a few times before I got it!
The ending left me screaming, crying, throwing up. I cannot wait to have more questions answered in book 2!!
Thank you so much to the author for sending a digital ARC. All opinions are 100% my own.

Oh my goodness. This book was phenomenal. The depth and intricacy of this story was unexpected, and beautifully done. Aster and her family are pirates, surviving at sea as humans have been forced to do for centuries. The Nightweavers rule the land, but the Oberon Clan's fate is about to change dramatically.
Captured and taken by a Nightweaver ship, her entire family is headed for land. Somehow, the boy who saved her this time has managed to keep them together and is even bringing them to his family's home to serve. They will be together. They will be alive. Aster should be relieved, but all she feels is anger and grief.
Watching her friendship bloom with Will was really nice, but the duplicity he represents was shocking, and so many layers of secrets just kept coming. This book kept surprising me, over and over, tossing me around like the waves of Aster's beloved ocean.
New adventures are on the horizon and Crew members hear about them first. From book reveals to exclusive extras, your journey begins with a single little email.
She almost stopped writing once. I stayed. I waited. And she came back.
She’s obsessed with dinosaurs. If she wasn’t a writer, she’d probably be a paleontologist. I would not survive that timeline.
